-
Our significant assets are IP, website and website domain, inventory (donated fatigues, washed fatigues, deconstructed fatigues, and products ready for sale), applicable software, shipping supplies, commercial fabric, notions, booth equipment for craft shows, and supplier contacts.
-
Our primary market is military family members and friends - most often females. We are not aware of business competition other than Bands For Arms. Etsy and Pinterest show a few military-themed products made by individual seamstresses.
-
Build on the existing operation to further penetrate the local and national markets. At this point, we are underrepresented on social media. In addition to selling wholesale, we currently sell online and at craft festivals. We offer custom orders – For Example: customers ask us to make one (or more) of our products using their fatigues and name tape. (See photo of Swartz Navy Day Pack).
-
We work with local veterans at the Veterans Community Project (VCP). We take our donated and washed fatigues to their location. Anyone living at VCP can share 2 hours of their time deconstructing fatigues. We pay the veterans for their time.
-
We avoid throwing anything into the landfill. We harvest as much as possible from the fatigues we deconstruct including buttons, Velcro, blousing ribbons, and anything we can reuse or pass along to other recycling organizing groups. (For example: Scraps KC.)
-
If local, seller offers 2 - 3 months at no more than 10 hrs/wk. If non-local, same with buyer paying any required travel expenses.
-
Celebrate Fatigues has gotten too large for us and our home. The need to recycle and repurpose is more than we can handle. Each week we have gotten between 20 and 65 donated fatigues through the mail. Our website states that we aren’t accepting fatigue donations and donors still find us. In addition to fatigues, we receive other previously used pieces (e.g., hats, bags, boots, and jumpsuits). We see value in the extras but don’t have the bandwidth to manage them.
And lastly, we’re no longer able to meet the physical demands to move gear, tubs, bags, and boxes of fatigues. We are ages: 75 & 82. We were recently in a car accident, which confirms our decision to sell..
